Help
Your first few minutes
- Pick your staples. A new install opens on a short list of staples: salt, oil, flour, eggs and the like, all checked. Uncheck what you don't keep and tap Add.
- Add a first recipe, or skip. You can also start from the Library of house recipes.
- Add a few pantry items. In the Pantry tab, mark a handful of things as Stocked.
- Open Tonight. It shows the dishes you can cook with what you have.
Adding recipes
- A link: copy a recipe page's address, then tap Add recipe and Paste a link. Or share the page to Salt & Honey from your browser. If the page has a photo of the dish, it comes in too, and you can remove it before you save.
- A photo: tap Scan a page and photograph a cookbook page or a recipe card.
- A PDF: tap Open a PDF.
- Paprika or Mela: export your library from that app, then open the export file with Salt & Honey.
Every import opens on a review screen. Check the highlighted fields, then save.
Your pantry
Mark each item Stocked, Low or Out. Staples count as stocked until you say otherwise. Each item shows how many recipes it unlocks. To restock, scan the barcode on the package.
Sharing a recipe
Open a recipe and tap Share. Salt & Honey makes a card: a picture of the recipe with a QR code on it. A friend with Salt & Honey scans the code, or opens the picture or link with the app, and the recipe opens on the review screen. A friend without the app can open the link and read the whole recipe in the browser.
Backups and moving phones
Go to Settings and tap Back up everything. Save the file somewhere safe. On the new phone, go to Settings and tap Restore from a backup. On iPhone and iPad, iCloud also keeps your devices in sync.
Contact us
In the app, go to Settings and tap Send feedback. Or write to feedback@willowandthewren.com.
Especially useful: a recipe page or photo that did not import cleanly (send the link or the photo), or a recipe marked cookable when it is not.
